CANTADERAS is a group of four women with a strong background in medieval music: Anne Marie Lablaude, June Telletxea, Paloma Gutiérrez del Arroyo and myself. This shared experience allows us to connect 13th-century repertoires — such as the Cantigas de Santa María and Cantigas de Amigo, pieces from the Notre-Dame school and the Provençal troubadour tradition — with music from popular oral traditions traditionally performed by women.‍ ‍Together, we approach this essentially female and oral repertoire drawing on many years of experience in the performance and study of medieval music.
